Incredibles 2 - So Good

My short review:

❤️❤️❤️❤️

I think Incredibles 2 succeeds so well because of its efficiency. It does not try to be any more than the first movie, but instead takes the sentiment of the first movie and builds on the wonderful family dynamic already established. The family feels real and relatable on every level, utilizing stereotypes of the parent/kid relationship just enough to make it seem universal instead of bland. This film reminds me of all the things great about the first film, including the beautiful animation that continues to amaze year to year. But having a heart behind a beautiful film is always essential to its triumph, and the movie certainly triumphs.

Of course, it's also very funny, action-packed, and thrilling in its twists and turns. The plot strikes a surprising balance between adult interest and child simplicity, being both intriguing and straightforward so that both parties remain riveted. At a conclusion that comes up all too quickly, the film leaves you wanting more, but at the same time knowing everything was perfectly paced. The movie is such a unique case, in fact, it is difficult to describe exactly how it succeeds in drawing from the original and striking out on its own. In short, a must-see for those excited after a 14-year wait. Even if no other sequel follows, we'll be left with the same legacy as the first, feeling satisfied and eager for more of the world's greatest superhero family.
